BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Sporting Gijon was held to a 1-1 home draw by Osasuna in the Spanish league on Sunday in the debut of coach Inaki Tejada.
Sporting took the lead at the rainy El Molinon stadium in the 32nd minute when midfielder Carmelo Gonzalez volleyed in a cross from Roberto Canella.
But Osasuna showed more attacking intent after halftime, and striker Dejan Lekic turned a header past goalkeeper Juan Colinas to level the scores in the 78th.
Tejada took over from Manolo Preciado, who was fired earlier this week after five-plus seasons with the Spanish club. Preciado was the longest standing coach in Spain's topflight.
Sporting has won one of its last six games and remains in the relegation zone.
