Galen Rupp manages allergies in try for Olympics

BOSTON (AP) -- Galen Rupp might be the only Olympic hopeful who's looking forward to the rain and fog of London.

The American 10,000 meter star has severe allergies that make it difficult for him to breathe in dry air that can be filled with pollen. But rain washes most allergens out of the air, Rupp says, so he doesn't expect any problems in London if he makes it to the 2012 Games.

Rupp is in Boston this weekend to compete in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Rupp has tried running with a mask on to help him breathe. But the allergies don't give him a problem indoors, so he won't need it on Saturday.

He'll run against training partner Mo Farah in the mile.
