'Corpse flower' ready to spread its stink in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A rare rain forest plant that's known as a "corpse flower" is almost ready to make its presence known at a greenhouse on the Ohio State University campus.

The 5-foot tall plant that smells like rotting flesh is expected to bloom in the next few days.

The bloom lasts only a couple of days.

The greenhouse has been giving daily updates on its website and will be open to visitors for those who want to see and smell the plant for themselves.

Greenhouse coordinator Joan Leonard has been growing the flowers for a decade. Last year, was the first time one bloomed.
