LONDON (AP) -- A British news station says a leaked report shows corrupt police officers helped private investigators working for organized crime gangs access and delete police intelligence records.
Channel 4 News says it has seen a confidential 2008 report on the security breaches from the Serious Organized Crime Agency describing activities of private investigators which threaten to "undermine the criminal justice system."
It said Thursday the report found cases of unauthorized access to details of investigations, the location of witnesses under police protection and informants' identities.
Channel 4 said the report has been passed to the Leveson inquiry into police corruption and media ethics.
It was not immediately possible to verify the authenticity of the report.
