GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- One of 10 finalists in the ArtPrize contest in Grand Rapids is about to become $250,000 richer.
Organizers are set to award the top prize in the third annual art contest on Thursday evening.
The $250,000 given to the winner is among nearly $500,000 in total prizes awarded in the weeks-long event that has drawn more than 400,000 people to the western Michigan city.
While the winners of most art competitions are decided by a few professionals, ArtPrize allows any adult to enter and any attendee to vote for the winners.
The 10 finalists are from California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Montana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
